THE BOOK
The body comes first.
The file comes after.
Jix finds a warning in her own handwriting that she has no memory of writing: DO NOT LET THEM NAME THE BODY FIRST. The next morning, an augmented hacker is handed a recovered neural device that swallows commands, erases logs, and seems to recognize her. As the anomaly spreads through networks, archives, prosthetics, and augmented bodies, corporate recovery teams begin rewriting consent after the fact. Jix has spent her life breaking into systems. Now she is trapped inside one that is trying to define what she is.
False Normal opens The Unowned. Its territory is the place where a person becomes a record, a repair becomes a dependency, and a system’s prediction starts making decisions on somebody else’s behalf.
The novel is fiction. The questions about ownership, identity, and who gets to act on a body are very much at home here.
THE TECHNOLOGY BEHIND THE QUESTIONS
Nine ways into the machinery.
Nine independent Cyberdelia essays explore real technology, science, engineering, and security ideas drawn from the manuscript. Read them before the novel or after it. No plot recap. No ending reveals. Fiction supplies the questions; research carries the technical claims.
